1) ABC's Body of Proof will return for a shortened third season without two of its regular stars.

Series regulars John Carroll Lynch and Nicholas Bishop, who have been with the show since it launched in 2011, have completed their time with the Dana Delany medical drama, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed, with the options on both actors not picked up for Season 3.

The series, which launched as a midseason show and went on to earn a 20-episode second run, last featured Bishop's investigator Peter Dunlop bleeding after being stabbed by an embalmer's hook following a fight. Lynch's Detective Bud Morris, meanwhile, was last seen celebrating at a baby shower with his wife.

The ABC Studios series is not a breakout word-of-mouth performer for the network but stands as its lone crime procedural, It was renewed in May for an abbreviated third season consisting of 13 episodes. Its Season 2 finale in April drew 10 million viewers and a 1.9 rating in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic.

The cast departures come as the network appears to be shedding stars from its returning bubble shows, with Private Practice original cast member Tim Daly's contract not picked up for the medical drama's upcoming sixth season.

2) Body of Proof" fans successfully campaigned for ABC to renew the show for Season 3 — but when it returns as a mid-season replacement at some point during the 2012-2013 television season, it's going to be a very different show.

As previously reported, three of the "Body of Proof" lead actors have been ousted. John Carroll Lynch, Nicholas Bishop and Sonja Sohn will not be returning for the third season, meaning that the majority of the detective power we're familiar with will be M.I.A. from the Philadelphia Homicide Division.

Of course, Bud Morris, Peter Dunlop, and Samantha Baker will be replaced. "Body of Proof" bosses are casting two new series regulars for Season 3. The first is Detective Tommy Sullivan, a former NYPD detective who has a romantic history with Megan ( Dana Delaney) — twenty years ago, they broke up after she caught him cheating on her. Now he's back in her life, and looking to prove that he can be trusted... despite his charming, cocky swagger.

We'll also meet Detective Adam Schaeffer, a young, newly minted detective, who joined the police force as an act of rebellion against his high-powered defense attorney dad. He's smart, and having grown up in Philadelphia, is a bit overconfident — which is a real pain in the butt for Tommy, his new partner.
