  Hipolita asks Luis for a job since she feels she shouldn't take advantage of Cristobal's hospitality. Cristobal talks to Teresa and tells her being a priest was not in his destiny and he hopes God forgives him for trying to help people in his own way. He asks Teresa if he can see Catalina.

     Ada worries about what people will say about Rafael. Cristobal visits Catalina and she learns he's no longer in the seminary. He promises her to visit her as she decides to stay in the convent as opposed to her father's anger. Luis talks to a lawyer and he suggests Hipolita argue that her husband is gay but be quiet of having a child. Juana learns of their financial situation and that Luis wants to dissolve the partnership with Diego.

     Hipolita plans a day out. Luis visits Perla and tells her that nothing can happen between them anymore and that the past is that the past and she becomes angry. Felipe asks Marcos to talk to Martin. Juana confronts Diego and he tells her he's maybe the wrong person for the job. She then complains to Modesta that she betrayed her brother and lied to the whole world and he doesn't appreciate it and that she created a monster. Modesta tells her she can change destiny once again with Rafael. Martin looks for work when he sees Hipolita. She tries to make him understand Luis didn't come between them because there was never a 'them' and apologizes to him. He wishes her well and leaves.

     Luis talks to Marcos about Perla as Cristobal talks to Felipe about his expulsion. Luis arrives and tells them what the lawyer told him. Cristobal tells him it won't work since the inquisition will put Hipolita through an embarrasing examination on front of a tribunal and will be discovered of not being a virgin. Felipe suggests to Luis that he give Rafael his name. He asks Cristobal for his opinion and he tells him that lies will not get him anywhere. Asuncion tells Hipolita they're returning to Las Tunas. In the meantime Francisco is thrown out of Las Tunas for non-payment.

     Modesta tells Vicente that Juana wants to talk to Luis. Hipolita becomes worried when Asuncion tells her she wrote her a letter a few days before she arrived in Cuencas and wonders if her husband knows where she is. Luis learns that the businessman Diego cheated was from Porta Bello/Santa Rita, Panama and that the son of the owner, Rodrigo will arrive in Cuencas and talk to Diego. Luis asks Cristobal what's wrong and he tells him he's no longer in the seminary. Hipolita tells Ada that she's worried her husband and mother-in-law will come for her.

     Juana talks to Felipe and insuniates herself to him and tells him to change Luis' mind about dissolving the partnership. Luis offers to talk to Friar Pablo on behalf of Cristobal but he denies to.He reminds him that he's been waiting for years to be ordained and says that God has other plans for him. Cristobal tells him he's saddened but will get over it as Luis tells him he's happy he's no longer in the seminary.

     Isabel tells Marina to tell Andres not to mention to his father that Luis is the father of Hipolita's son. Isabel orders Vicente to be quiet. Perla runs into Ramon. Hipolita tells Luis of the letter. She learns that Rodrigo will arrive soon in Cuencas as she tells Luis if they take her son she will die. Ramon escorts Perla home. Luis tells Hipolita what Cristobal told him and of Felipe's suggestion to register Rafael as his son and not name the mother to protect her. He comforts her as they talk about Esperanza. He tells her that she and Rafael are the most important people in his life.

     At the palace, Gasca tells Diego what happened with Francisco. Perla talks to Ramon and his friend the mute and they offer to return Hipolita to Panama. Diego tells Andres about his father and promotes him. Cristobal talks to Aurelio and tells him he's taking over his business matters. Aurelio suggests to him that now that he's no longer in the seminary he should look for a wife.

Cristobal tells Luis that Diego took Las Tunas away From Francisco. Perla invites Martin to her house. Luis arrives at Cristobal's and talks to Aurelio. Hipolita arrives and Luis tells her the baptism will be in a couple of days. She asks him if he's goint to take her son away from her and he tells her he'll never take a child away from his mother but if that child was his he wouldn't want to be separated from him.

     Perla tells Martin to get revenge as Margarita tells her that Ramon and his friend are waiting for her. Luis tells Hipolita he's going out of town for a couple of days. They both wish to be together as they kiss. Perla asks Ramon about their plan to kidnap Hipolita. In Santa Rita, Panama Caritino gives Fermin a letter for Carlota to give to Antonio but Fermin tells him he went to Mexico with his friend Rodrigo. Luis tells Marcos he told Martin the truth. Martin confronts Felipe about Luis and asks him if Hipolita's husband could be the father and not Luis but Felipe tells him he's impotent as Martin wonders how Hipolita will react when she learns the truth and Felipe tells her it's not their problem.

     Asuncion worries about Luis giving Rafael his name and tells Hipolita she's not going to tell Francisco about it. Isabel arrives home and learns the Escobar family will live at the DeLara palace. She shows Marina the outfit she bought Rafael when Juana arrives and tells her about Francisco, Catalina leaving the convent and Cristobal leaving the seminary. She tells her she's happy to learn about Catalina and Cristobal as she lies to her that the outfit belongs to the nephew of Marina's godmother. She denies to let Diego have Marina and reminds her of the indifference she has for Luis. Modesta tells Juana the outfit is for Rafael.

     Francisco complains to his wife that Cristobal gave him the servants' room and orders her to tell Hipolita not to call her mother in front of people. He also asks her if she knows why Cristobal left the seminary and wonders if he's interested in Catalina. Martin arrives home and cries telling Marcos he doesn't want to talk. Marina goes to Andres' room and they talk about their lives. He admits he loves her but she tells him he's a nobleman and that she's beneath him. Gasca sees Marina leaving Andres' room and threatens her if she doesn't give herself to Diego. Perla goes back to her old ways.

     The next morning Hipolita and Asuncion go for Catalina. The sister's reconcile. Felipe tells Luis that everything is ready for the baptism and that he talked to Martin. Asuncion and her daughter's arrive at the DeLara palace. Catalina meets Cleotilde and then her nephew Rafael. Diego tells Gasca he wants Marina that night. Luis sends Hipolita a letter telling her the baptism will be the following day.

     Rodrogo and Antonio arrive in Mexico. Modesta questions Cirilio. Luis talks to Juana about Esperanza. He leaves when Modesta arrives and tells her about Cirilio and she realizes that the baptism is the following day. Hipolita gives her mother some dresses for her sister and tells her of the baptism. She makes her daughter feel bad and she leaves. Catalina looks at Cristobal's cross when her mother. She tells her it was Cristobal who got her out of the convent in exchange for them to live there. She asks her if she did something for Cristobal to do it but she denies it telling her he told her that God had other plans for him than the seminary. She also tells her of the baptism and to tell her sister to explain her life to her.

     Luis visits Cristobal and invites him to go to the mine with him. He tells him that Hipolita and her family are his responsibility but he has another solution, if he were to marry Catalina he could keep the in-laws. Catalina asks Hipolita about her husband when Cirilio arrives with the clothing for the baptism. She wonders why Isabel has so much consideration for her and her son.

     Modesta learns what Luis is planning to do and tells Juana. Carmela worries about Martin as he's able to get a job in Spain. La Poderosa tells Ramon how much it will cost to take Hipolita to Panama. Catalina's shocked at Hipolita's confession. She asks her how she didn't know it wasn't her husband and she tells her that her need to become a woman and to have a child were so great she let her feelings take over and hopes she now never finds that man.

Antonio stares at the couple but doesn't recognize Hipolita. Luis tells Hipolita not to regret what has happened between the two of them and that he would give up half his life so they can be together. He also wants to tell the world one day that she is his wife. Aurelio arrives and tells Luis that Cristobal wants to talk to him. Luis tells Hipolita to trust her feelings and that he's not going to let her down.

     Catalina wonders where her sister is as Asuncion tells her what her father ordered her to do. Luis talks to Cristobal as he asks him where he was. Cristobal asks him if he has told Hipolita the truth about him being Rafael's father. He tells him he doesn't have the valor to do it but admits that he loves her and she loves him. Cristobal tells him he can't build a relationship on lies because sooner or later it will all fall apart. Hipolita tells Ada she's going to accept Luis' offer. Near dawn Luis, Felipe and Cristobal leave on their trip to the mine.

     Perla has a writer write a letter to Hipolita to come see her when she sees Antonio and they stare at each other. Later she gives the letter to a young boy to deliver to the DeLara palace. Hipolita reads the letter but says she's not going. Ada convinces her to go and she reluctantly agrees. Perla tells Ramon that everything's ready. At the hotel Antonio learns about the region. Hipolita and Ada get ready to go see Perla and Ada convinces her not to take Rafael and shenleaves him with Catalina and Asuncion. Perla fires Margarita as Ramon readies for Hipolita's arrival.

     Martin asks his employer for an advance on his salary as he learns he leaves for Spain in four weeks. Rodrigo and Antonio visit Malanquillas, Diego's accountant. Rodrigo asks for a meeting with Diego. Hipolita arrives at Perla's and she tells her lies about Luis. Hipolita tells Ada she shouldn't have listened to her. At that moment Ramon and his men kidnap Hipolita. Luis tells his friends he shouldn't have made the trip as he feels uneasy. Catalina tells Asuncion that she's trying to understand her sister but her mother tells her that she's going to suffer with the personality she had and that it's going to get her in trouble.

     Mallanquillas arrives at the palace as Margarita tells Marcos that Perla fired her. Juana agrees to see Rodrigo. Marcos talks to Andres when Martin arrives and gives him some money for letting him stay at his home. Ada arrives at the palace and tells Marcos and Martin that Hipolita was kidnapped. She tells Martin it was Ramon and a mute and he realizes it was Perla's doing and runs out. Marcos accuses Gasca when Ada and Isabel arrive and they blame Diego. Isabel tells Diego she's going to report him as Ada blames herself for what happened. Isabel orders Marcos to go look for Luis. Vicente tells Marcos that he heard Ada tell Martin that they were leaving Perla's house when she was kidnapped. Juana orders Gasca to look for Ramon as Diego tells her to throw out Isabel.

     Martin confronts Perla but she denies it. Martin tells her that Luis is Rafael's father and when he learns what she's done he's going to beat her to a pulp. She tells her where she's being taken and she begs him not to tell Luis but he leaves. Perla packs her bags and leaves. Marcos looks for Perla and learns she's gone. Martin tells his mother he's going to look for Hipolita but she tells him to wait but he tells her he can't. Marcos questions Margarita. Hipolita asks where she's being taken and begs the mute to let her go and begins to hit him and cries.

     Carmela looks for Juana as Marcos makes his way to the mine. At Cristobal's Ada blames herself as Asuncion and Catalina worry about her. Carmela tells Juana what Martin told her and that she's worried about her son. Juana tells Modesta that Diego didn't kidnap Hipolita. Rodriogo tells Antonio they have a meeting with Diego the following day. Isabel plans to talk to the authorities. Martin follows Hipolita's trail. Juana arrives at Cristobal's and tells Asuncion she's taking Rafael. When Aurelio denies to let her take him Juana tells all present that Luis was the man who got Hipolita pregnant.

Marcos tells Luis of Hipolita's kidnapping and of his suspicions that Perla was behind it. He tells Cristobal and Felipe that he has to leave and tells the foreman he has his word concerning the contract. Marcos tells Felipe that Martin went to look for Hipolita. Felipe tells Luis one of the miners knows where Monforte is.

     Rodrigo and Antonio arrive at the Guevara palace as Antonio tells him he wants to do some business is Mexico with the money he inherited from his uncle. Francisco talks to Juana and asks her to let his family return to Las Tunas when Modesta tells her the men have arrived. Antonio stares at Juana when they meet. Martin is able to talk to Hipolita and tells her he's going to help her escape and that Perla was behind her kidnapping. Diego returns to the castle and learns Rodrigo doesn't want to accept Las Tunas in exchange to drop the lawsuit as he begs him to accept it as payment. Martin tries to calm Hipolita and promises he'll get her out of the camp and she worries he'll get hurt.

     Isabel meets Antonio and Rodrigo and she learns that they're from Santa Rita, Panama and she becomes nervous. Asuncion and Catalina arrive at the palace as Antonio and Rodrigo are leaving. Rodrigo asks Mallanquillas about Catalina. Isabel tells Marina the men might know Hipolita as she asks her if she feels fine.

     At the camp the escapees talk about Victoria being La Poderosa's daughter. At that moment Martin arrives and asks for her. He lies and tells her he needs her help and tells her La Poderoda sent him. Victoria tells Martin he dresses too nice and fancy to be running from justice. He tells her a story and she lets him stay in exchange for his horse. Martin asks questions and then tells Hipolita he has to act now and tells her his plan. Carmela prays for her son's safety as Luis and his men ask for directions.

     Catalina and Asuncion talk about Hipolita and Luis when they run into Rodrigo who stares at her. Diego tells Antonio lies about Luis. At the campsite Martin tells Hipolita what he plans to do. As he leaves the men enter her hut and try to rape her. She yells for Martin and he runs to help her. One of the men challenges him to a duel and he begs her to run away/ The men duel and Martin comes out the winner. The other men ambush him and one of them stabs him in the back as Hipolita watches in horror. Hipolita rushes to his side and helps him reach shore. Jesus tells Luis and the others about the campsite as Cristobal comforts his friend.

     Victoria returns to the camp and says she's glad Moncho's dead for disobeying her. Hipolita takes care of Martin when Victoria arrives. She begs her to get a doctor but she denies to. Victoria questions her as Hipolita begs her to get a doctor but she tells her that if she went for one it would be too late.

     Catalina talks to Ada who says that Luis is a hypocrite. Francisco tells Asuncion of his visit to Juana and orders her to beg Juana to return Las Tunas to them. At a brothel Diego tells Rodrigo and Antonio more lies about Luis as he and his men make their way to Monforte. Martin tells Hipolita about his feelings for her as Victoria listens in and becomes nervous when he mentions Diego and Luis' name. Hipolita blames herself for what has happened and he assures her that Luis, Felipe and Cristobal will find her. He tells her that he's happy that he has her all to himself. Victoria enters and gives her a tonic for Martin. Later Victoria becomes nervous about being caught as Martin gets worse.

  Isabel tells Marina what Diego told her and that she has money to leave and that Luis will back her up. Andres arrives at the DeLara palace and talks to his family and tells them he was fired but doesn't tell them why. Catalina begs her mother not to ask Cristobal to marry her but she denies to. Francisco returns and tells his family the real reason he was fired.

     On their way home Cristobal tries to console Felipe as Hipolita tells Luis of the conversation she had with Martin concerning him. Luis tells her that when they return to Cuencas he has to tell her something that she's not going to like. he asks him to tell her at that moment but he denies to telling her to never forget that he loves her.

     On her way home Esperanza throws up on the side of the road. Juana denies to tell Diego that Antonio is Hipolita's husband and both she and Modesta agree that Antonio doesn't look gay. Carmela is worried about Martin as Juana tells Vicente to tell her to be patient. At Cristobal's, Isabel tells Asuncion that Diego threw her out of the castle as Marina tells Catalina of her problem with Diego and of her life.

     Andres looks for work as Juana asks Diego if Antonio is gay but he denies it. Diego tells Juana she threw Isabel out and she calls him on it. He goes on a rampage when she tells him she's going to ask her to stay on his behalf. Isabel demands an apology from Diego when Juana tells her not to leave. Gasca talks to Ramon and the mute and tells him that Luis is going to kill them now that he knows that they kidnapped his son's mother. Luis and his men cross paths with Esperanza and Santiago. Luis tells her he can't accompany her to the palace due to Martin's death. She asks him about the woman and tells her she's Asuncion's daughter and she confuses her with Catalina. She orders Luis to escort her home as Santiago tells her to understand Luis' position. Hipolita asks Luis if Esperanza is his wife and he admits she is.

     They arrive at the castle and Luis reassures Hipolita that she and Rafael are the most important people in his life and that she's his. Catalina runs to welcome her sister as does Asuncion and Ada. She asks for her son and her mother tells her that Juana took him to the palace. Ada becomes angry and tells her that Luis is the man from Panama. She's shocked and she recalls the night he seduced her as Ada tells her it was all a trick to take Rafael away from her. She runs out and Asuncion orders Catalina to go after her. She then gets after Ada for telling her the truth the way she did. Rodrigo sees Catalina and Hipolita run out of the palace.

     Felipe arrives home and Carmela assumes that the person in the coffin is Luis. She's destroyed and heartbroken to learn it's Martin and wants to open the coffin saying it isn't him. Luis arrives at the palace and talks to Esperanza. Antonio plans to do business with Diego when Rodrigo arrives and tells him he just saw Hipolita. Antonio tells him he's confused, that it couldn't be her. Catalina tells Hipolita that Luis has to have an explanation. Vicente tells Luis that Hipolita is there to pick up her son and he's surprised to learn that Rafael is at the palace.

     Hipolita runs to her son's side and gives him to Catalina and then confronts Juana. She tells her it was all a plan to take Rafael away from her and that'swhy she and Perla had her kidnapped. At that moment Luis walks toward them and overhears Hipolita tell Juana that she knows that Luis is Rafael's father. He assures her that his intention was never to take her son away from her. She hits him and tells him that if he ever tries to take her son away from her she'll kill him and leaves. Luis asks Juana how she learned the truth and he becomes angry when she tells him she had to tell Asuncion and her family that he was the father so she can bring the boy to the palace.

     Luis goes after Hipolita who tells him to leave her alone. He tells her he tried to tell her but was afraid of her reaction. 'How did you want me to react, with open arms?' she asks. She also becomes angry when she tells him that everyone knew the truth and that he lied to her. He reminds her that he told her he had something to tell her and was only waiting until after Martin's funeral and she tells him that Martin was, he was a scoundrel.

     Esperanza witnesses it all and calls out to Luis. Hipolita walks away as Esperanza demands to know who the woman and the toddler are and that she has a right to know. He confesses to her that Hipolita is the woman he loves and that Rafael is his son. Esperanza complains to Juana who tells her that Luis has a right to have children with another woman that she can't give him. She tells her that she's having Luis' baby and later she tells Modesta that if Esperanza is pregnant she cheated on Luis.

     As Carmela cradles her son's body she blames Hipolita for her son's death and tells Felipe not to defend her. Luis arrives at Felipe's and offers him all his support as he asks Cristobal about La Poderosa. Hipolita cries as Luis tells Cristobal that Hipolita knows the truth and that her reaction was as he expected. Cristobal consoles his friend when Diego calls them over to where he's having dinner and introduces them to Antonio and Rodrigo. When they leave Diego tells Rodrigo that he can get Catalina for him.

  Juana questions Antonio on his personal life. The funeral procession for Martin begins with Luis and Cristobal leading it. Hipolita and Catalina join it as Felipe consoles Carmela.

     The funeral procession continues. Catalina and Hipolita meet up with Andres who learns of Martin's death. Later, Isabel tells Hipolita they need to talk and she agrees to meet with her. Everyone gathers at the cemetary as Hipolita tells Catalina she'll go another day to visit Martin's grave. She apologizes to her sister for ruining a chance for her to marry Cristobal. She tells her she's glad she did because she doesn't want Cristobal to marry her for pity. Hipolita asks her if she loves Cristobal but she tells her that he doesn't and doesn't want to live a life like her parents.

     At the cemetary Andres talks to Marcos. Modesta tells Juana to tell Luis about Antonio but Juana thinks that he lied about being divorced. Luis learns that Hipolita was at the funeral as he consoles Felipe.

     Marcos and Felipe escort Carmela home as she cries over a cross drawn on the ground. As Marcos says goodbye Carmela begs him not to leave and stay with her. Luis looks for Perla as Cristobal suggests they go talk to La Poderosa. Isabel tells Madgalena that Luis found Hipolita. She tells her that there's a rumor going around that Luis recognized an illegitimate son and she admits that it's true saying that her nephew has a right to have children but denies to tell her who the mother is.

     Luis and Cristobal tell Baltazar they wnt to talk to La Poderosa. Victoria tells her mother not to accept as she tells her to hide so they won't see her. Sara covers herself when Luis and Cristobal enter and ask her about Victoria. She denies knowing her but Luis tells her she's lying and doesn't believe her. She denies to help them as Cristobal tells Luis he knew they weren't going to get anywhere and asks him if he wants him to get the guards to arrest her but he denies to.

     Sara tells Victoria that Luis looks so much like Carlos, the late Conde and that she was good friends with his wife Aurora until Juana came between them. She tells her of Juana's sick love for her brother the Count and that it was Juana who turned in her family for being Jews. She also tells her that she was in the same fire that killed Carlos and Aurora and was recovering from her burns when Juana threatened her if she didn't leave town. Sara tells her daughter that she's worried that Juana will learn she's in Cuencas and orders her to leave but Victoria denies to.

     Luis tells Cristobal he's heading home as he tells him he's visiting his sister at the convent. They meet up with Antonio and tells Luis he wants a meeting with him and agrees to meet him the following day. At Cristobal's, Hipolita and Cristobal talk about her father and Catalina begs her sister not to bring up the marriage proposal concerning Cristobal. Diego and Rodrigo arrive at Cristobal's and they talk to Asuncion and Catalina. Diego offers Asuncion a way to help them.

     Cristobal visits Teresa. Rodrigo tells Diego that he wants Catalina as his wife not an adventure. He suggests he have her soon or he will. Teresa tells Cristobal that Catalina has feelings for him. Cristobal admits to his sister that he likes Catalina but doesn't know what his future holds for him. Hipolita becomes nervous when Asuncion mentions Rodrigo's name and that he's interested in Catalina. Francisco arrives and he learns of the visit and wonders who has more money; Rodrigo or Cristobal much to Catalina's horror. Hipolita asks Catalina to describe Rodrigo as she realizes he's Antonio's friend.

     Cristobal sees Friar Alvaro and tells him though he's no longer in the seminary he will still serve God. He also tells him that Luis wants to see him to start divorce proceedings. Andres asks Cristobal for work and he offers to look for something and gives him some money for the meantime. Catalina suggests Hipolita tell Luis about Rodrigo. Juana tells Diego he has to tell Luis about a possible partnership with Antonio.

     Juana ignores Francisco and later talks to Diego. He becomes furious when he tells him that Rodrigo wants Catalina as his lover and not his wife. Santiago asks Esperanza if she's told Luis she's pregnant and denies to interfere in her marriage. Cristobal receives a letter from Juana. Aurelio tells him of Diego's visit and of Isabel's finances. The next morning Catalina talks to Cristobal but she denies that Rodrigo is interested in her. As he leaves they stare and smile at each other. Cristobal arrives at the palace as Catalina tells Asuncion that Cristobal wasn't jealous at all and not to offer her to marry him as her mother tells her that her father has the last word.

At the palace Esperanza tells Mirtha that Juana doesn't believe she's pregnant ans that Luis will be furious and hit her when he finds out. Diego asks Isabel what she's doing at the palace and throws her out. Isabel tells Marina she'll leave when she wants.

     Marcos tells Felipe no one knows where Perla is when Luis arrives and tells them that Antonio has arrived in Cuencas and tells them about Rafael. Felipe tells Luis of how Carmela treated Hipolita and tells him to offer her an apology. Luis offers to go with him to find Martin's killer. They arrive at Cristobal's clinic and tells him Antonio is Hipolita's husband. He tells him that the authorities can force her to return to her husband as Antonio and Rodrigo stare at them. Isabel tells Hipolita that Luis will help her as Catalina and Marina talk about the life of a woman. They also talk about Andres.

     The mid-wife arrives at the palace as Cristobal tells Luis that he deosn't see himself with a wife and children just yet. Luis asks him if he likes Catalina and he says he does but us nervous about living with someone considering he's been alone most of his life. Luis tells him that when you love a woman you're feelings don't reason and he tells him he knows but doesn't think he's ready.

     The mid-wife checks Esperanza. Luis learns from Juana that Antonio told her he was divorced. He asks her for a favor, not to tell anyone Rafael is Hipolita's son and she agrees. He's surprised when she accepts and thanks her for also helping him with Esperanza. Santiago asks Luis if it's true he has a son with another woman. He admits it and tells him he's divorcing her but he tells him he can't because she's pregnant but he denies it. Modesta tells Juana that she is indeed pregnant and she realizes that she cheated on Luis. She goes to her room and slaps her repeatedly until she confesses that Diego got her pregnant. Juana is shocked at what her son is capable of. Mirtha tells Esperanza that she shouldn't have told Juana the truth when Santiago arrives but she denies to see him.

     Diego tells Rodrigo that Hipolita is lying about having a son as he learns that Antonio is not divorced. Both wonder what happened between the couple when Diego sees Luis arrive at the DeLara palace. Luis tells Hipolita that Antonio said he was divorced. He asks her if she hasn't forgiven him but she tells him that it's not only that but many things that separated them. He tells her he's not giving her up as he hugs her. At the palace Juana tells Modesta of what she did for Diego when her brother died and all of her efforts resulted him in turning him into a scorpion and a stupid one at that. Juana worries that Luis will kill Diego when he learns the truth. She tells her she regrets what she did and makes plans. Juana threatens Esperanza and tells her that if she tells Luis it was Diego she'll turn her in and for her to blame someone else. Catalina reminds Andres that they're nobody's as he complains that he can't be a servant considering their grandfather was a nobleman.

     Cristobal returns home and tells Cleotilde he needs to talk to Catalina. Marcos offers Andres a place to stay. They also talk about Marina and Diego. Cristobal asks Catalina about Andres abd tells her he found a job for him. As they talk Francisco arrives and tells him rumors say that he's interested in Catalina and asks him to repair any damage done and marry his daughter. Catalina cries when her father tells Asuncion that Cristobal offered to find a husband for their daughter and pay her dowry. Catalina cries at she looks at Cristobal's cross.

     Juana tells Luis that Esperanza is pregnant but he angrily tells her that it's impossible. He tells her to get another opisnion as he confronts Esperanza. She and Mirtha try to confuse him but he tells him they're lying and demands to know who got her pregnant but she insists it's his. Juana interceeds and tells Luis they'll wait for the other mid-wife. Luis tells Juana that Esperanza cheated on him. Mirtha tells Esperanza to name someone else like Juana ordered. Juana confronts Diego and he laughs. She slaps him and tells him if he continues his bad ways she'll tell everyone he's not the Count and orders him to be quiet.

Diego visited Esperanza in her room and asked her to pin the pregnancy on someone else. When Esperanza said that Gasca and Vicente were suggested, Diego said "Dear God, no! The child won't be THAT ugly!" Heh. Anyway! In the end, they decided upon Andres. Santiago came into her room and found Diego there and didn't seem to like that at all. Then Esperanza told him that Andres raped her and Santiago freaked out and told Luis and Juana. Luis was all sorts of shocked.

     Hipolita ran into Antonio on the street and he asked to speak with her. He said he would give her the divorce if she reaaally wanted it, but he wanted her to be sure. She said he was sure. He still made some excuses or something, I think, but basically said ok.

     Hipolita learned that Esperanza was pregnant. Luis told her it was totally not his kid, but Hipolita was still shocked and had to go rest. Everyone gossipped behind her back about Esperanza's pregnancy in the living room at Cristobal's (everyone being Asuncion, Francisco, Catalina, Isabel, and Marina).

     Carmela seems to be trying to make Marcos take Martin's place or something cause she practically begged him to move into their house. Marcos was like "Uhh...I'll think about it" or something. Felipe was totally rolling his eyes and the maid was like "Uhh...".

     Marina asked Isabel not to bring her over to the De Lara palace anymore because Francisco and Asuncion were giving her dirty looks because she is below their station (earlier, Asuncion had asked Catalina not to hang out with Marina anymore because she slept with Diego, even though she knows Marina was forced; it was weird). Isabel told her not to feel bad and that she was going to keep bringing her. She said things such as "Hey, they can't be talking about anyone else because Francisco has always thought he was better than everyone else and look at him now! Living as an arrimado at someone else's place! And Asuncion did the big no-no before she got married and had an illegitimate daughter, so don't let them make you feel bad." Marina was appeased and it was a cute moment where you could see just how much Marina adores Isabel.

     I think there was a flashback where it was established that Gasca killed Victoria's husband (Marina's dad). Someone can correct me on this. It seems he didn't know he was someone important. I...forget why he was important, but he was, and Gasca was all freaked out like "OH SNAP I DIDN'T KNOW I THOUGHT HE WAS JUST SOME GUY!" or something. Victoria told La Poderosa she was used to taking care of herself cause she lived among thieves and jerkwads for like 20 years.

     Cristobal was reaaally depressed this episode and, when Luis told him about all the junk with Esperanza and how she cheated on him and all his woes, Cristobal said, "Maybe this is punishment from God for having cheated on your wife." Luis was like "WHOA, MAN. I always told you all my stuff and you never scolded me like this. You sound like Fray Alvaro," and Cristobal was like "It must be the religious guy in me." Luis said "But...you're not religious anymore," and Cristobal replied, "I'm still a good Christian." Luis just shook his head and said "Dude, I don't know you anymore. What's wrong with you?" Later, Cristobal cried before his little religious statue (I forget if it was Jesus or the virgin Mary...) in his office and cried, begging God for guidance and saying he was totally lost. I cried along with him.

     And I think that was it! Oh! And Juana was mean and before Luis went out to check out the whole Andres-raped-Esperanza deal, Juana was like "Don't kill him, sweetie!" and then as soon as he was gone she was like "I hope he kills him." Then we booed at her.

     Oh! And that cool page guy (the other guy with the same uniform as Vicente; the guy who called the comadrona) totally knew what was up and said "You KNOW she cheated on him. The master's not stupid" and Vicente was like "Dang!" It was cute to see the men gossipping too.

  Luis tells Felipe that he doesn't want to believe thatDiego got his wife pregnant because if he did he'll kill him. Felipe asks him why Diego would want to kill him and tells him of his talks with Marcos. Luis tells him that Cristobal told him to look to the past to find the answers.

     At the DeLara palace Marina denies to enter as Isabel gives her permission to talk to Andres. Isabel talks to Hipolita and she's horrified when she tells her that Esperanza will soon diel. She begins to cry and tells her she already has doubts and to stop tormenting her as Isabel tries to make her understand that there's a solution. Marina's harrassed by two young men and Andres comes to her defense. One of them challenges Andres to a duel but Cristobal comes between them and orders them to go their separates ways. He thanks Andres for defending Marina as does she as he escorts her to his palace.

     Isabel talks to Cleotilde when Cristobal arrives wirh a scared and crying Marina and Isanel consoles her. Hipolita confesses to Ada that if she was alone she would fight for Luis since the love she feels for him comes once in a lifetime but that she has to think of her son first. Felipe cries as he thinks of when Martin died and Luis stares at him. The next morning Felipe and Luis along with his men arrive at the camp and Felipe confronts his son's killer. Luis and his men keep watch as Felipe duels with the man. Felipe kills him with a dagger through his heart as he prays to Martin telling him he got justice.

     At the DeLara palace Hipolita writes a letter to Luis telling him her feelings for him. Andres informs Antonio his carriage has arrives and learns he's married to Hipolita. Cleotilde informs Hipolita that Antonio has arrived and she gives her the letter she wrote Luis. Hipolita thanks Cristobal for his help and hospitality and Luis left town. He tells her his friend is a good person and she tells him she knows but she's doing this for her son and he tells her she's doing the right thing. Asuncion talks to Antonio as Hipolita says goodbye to everyone present. Catalina apologizes to her for her behavior when they were in the convent as Hipolita tells her it's all in the past as the sister's hug each other.

     Iginio learns of the Guzman's trip as does Gasca. Luis doesn't believe Hipolita will return to Panama. At the DeLara palace Catalina admits to Cristobal she knew her sister was leaving. He worries what Luis will do when he learns Hipolita has left. She thinks she's bothering him as he assures her she never will. Francisco becomes angry with Asuncion and orders to talk to Juana. Victoria arrives home as Iginio tells her about Hipolita and of Gasca's presence. Victoria tells Sara that her granddaughter is alive. Aurelio informs Isabel that Hipolita has left.

     Juana gets after Diego for insulting Luis. Isabel arrives and Diego orders her to leave. At that moment she tells them of the debt that Juana owes her and to pay her or give her the palace. Isabel tells Marina whayt dhe did and that she wants the palace. Isabel tells Marina that she's adopting her. Hipolita thinks of Luis when soldiers stop the carriage they are in. Antonio shows them all the papers but the soldiers tell them they stole Rafael. They beat Antonio and knock out Hipolita.
